Palestinian Artist Highlight: Painter & Designer Anwar Fannoun

I was born in 1994 in the city of Hebron, Palestine. I finished secondary school with a major in science before I started studying graphic design (multimedia) at the Polytechnic University of Palestine. I graduated in 2016 with my degree and since then have participated in many exhibitions, including;

The Hekaya Wa Lon, University of Al-Najah, Nablus (2017), an exhibition of fine art in Egypt (2015), an exhibition of writers and artists in Jordan (2015), a graphic exhibition at Mahmoud Darwish Museum, Ramallah, The Kanaan-Dura in Hebron (2015), the Graphica exhibition at the Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron (2013-2016), the graphic exhibition at the Russian Center in Bethlehem (2014), a copper drawing exhibition at the Palestinian Children's Art Center (2010), and an exhibition of Drawing Art at Khalil France Center (2009).

I was chosen to represent my country Palestine at the 12th Arab Youth Festival in Egypt in 2015. Eleven Arab countries met and a fine art exhibition was established. I won first place in the field of photography at the Foundation of Creativity and won the 2014 Palestinian Creativity Award for Photography.

I have represented Palestine in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan where the first creative Palestinian journey has included a group of Palestinian artists and thinkers in the Youth Foundation for creativity and excellence. My passion for art led me to many art workshops and programmes, including copper painting and glass drawing courses at the Palestinian Children's Art Center, art workshops at The France Centre (Hebron), pottery workshops and decoration drawing by the The Ministry of Education, and an oil painting course with the artist Youssef Ketlo in the center of Isaad Al-tofoleh, Hebron.

I have also taken courses relating to management and leadership through Jadara (the merit) project. This has helped me to establish my project WINGS - a photographic workshop about the illegal settlement in Hebron, as well as a workshop on the patterns of social interaction at the 12th Arab Youth Festival in Egypt.

My passion is to focus all of my energy on the arts, with fine arts being my main interest. Currently I'm employed as a teacher at the Polytechnic University of Palestine
